Secrets Inside Smart Fashions – The Burned Factory.

As the burned subcontracting factory remain guarded, our sources are yet again successful to ensure transparency.

The “unregistered” subcontracting factory had 350 workers without any formal contract with them. They had attendance cards only, some of which have been secured and one of them presented below.

‘Inditex SA (ITX)’, the world’s largest clothing retailer, which also owns Zara, sourced the most from the contractors whose work was subcontracted to Smart Fashions. The Brand has not yet paid any compensation for the lives lost during the fire on 26 January 2013.

Sources confirmed ten dead in the fire, however, electronic and print, media published only 7 deaths that evening. When factory management was questioned about the 3 dead workers not being mentioned in the media, they replied, “they had no guardians present to claim their body.” This comment would also save the subcontractor for any future change of paying compensation.
