Tazreen receives compensation

Tazreen fire victims receive a total compensation of BDT 6 Lakh on December 2, 2012.

The donors of this compensation included Tazreen Fashions Limited, Premier Bank Limited, Exim Bank Limited, and the (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association) BGMEA who donated BDT 1 Lakh each to the bereaved families. The Government added BDT 2 Lakh to that sum.

Only 44 families received the fund for the cause. Compensations were given on the second day as well, but the amount was smaller.

Our source informed us of several international brands who had been sourcing at Tazreen. The shipments for some of these brands were shipped even after only two days of the fire.

None of the brands have yet been reported to have given any form of compensation or support to the victims of this terrible tragedy.

Death toll recorded by press was double the amount on print media. 44 families out of the 1100 victimized were aided.
